“Light Breaks” by Thomas Merton

Although it is the day’s last hour,
Look with no fear,
For the torn storm lets in, at the world’s rim,
Three rays straight as Jacob’s ladder.

And you will see the sun, my Son,
Come to break the dark.
Do not fear the sunset of death,
It dies in the rays of the Bridegroom come.

Although it is the day’s last hour,
Look with no fear,
For the torn storm lets in, at the world’s rim,
Three rays straight as Jacob’s ladder.
